I encounter a error in the start itself... It asks for dll's.

Error 1 The CodeDom provider type "Microsoft.VisualC.CppCodeProvider, CppCodeProvider, Version=8.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b03f5f7f11d50a3a" could not be located.

The above mentioned is the error I encounter.can I get a solution for this please

Hi.

I have one more issue related to UI.

I have downloaded fresh code.

And When I have open it and try to open a form PrincipalForm on Design Mode.

It is giving me this error. So pls. let us know, how can I resolve this issue.

Thanks for the reply.

Well I have executed the query EXEC xp_msver @optname='ProductVersion'

It is showing the version as shown below.

2 ProductVersion 524288 8.00.194

so what can be the issue pls. let me know. and how can i solve it.

One more thing for your information is :

In Master Database where i am connecting , In System Tables I found the table called dbo.sysdatabases where as in code file it's trying to connecting sys.databases

So What should i do now ? to make it workable...

2 options:

1) It's not a SQL Server 2005/2008. Check execution this command en SQL Analyzer: EXEC xp_msver @optname='ProductVersion'

2) The user that you put doesn't have permission to see sys.database

I am getting error once i click on Database DropDownList

Once I fill up the relavant information and Authentication When I click on Datbase it gives me error ["invalid object name 'sys.databases'"]

I am using SQL Server 2005.

Pls. Help me out in this issue..

The comparison starts to run and then fails with the error message "Invalid database connection. Please check the database connection. The method or operation is not implemented"

Closed Issue: Returning the script through command prompt execution. [5453]

I like this tool very much.
A function that would be really useful would be to return the script using the command prompt and providing the connection strings as parameters. It would be interesting for the installer generation created using MSBuild or NAnt, then you could update even the test DB environment.
I would like to contribute to this project, especially for this functionality´s implementation.

Closed Issue: Constraints not appearing in the 'Old Object' window. [7919]

When I view a table, the Constraints appear in the 'New Object', but are missing from the 'Old Object' (This happens even if the Source and Destination are the same database). The actual comparision routine appears to be correct as the 'Synchronized Script' is empty.

From stepping through the source code, it would appear that it is calling the Database.Clone method ( origenClone = (Database)origen.Clone(null);) which does not clone the Constraints.

Also, whilst debugging this I got into a sceneraio where it repeatedly called the comparsion routines. It was calling the ProgressForm_Activated event, so I think the last line in the following section of code set IsProcessing true rather than false.

Closed Issue: Database List not updated when changing "Server Host" (typing, not picking-from-list) [8866]

If I select a "Server Host" - see the list of databases in the list - good. Then I type in the name of a different "Server Host". If I drop down the list of databases, I see the list from the previous server. I can force the list to re-load by selecting a different Authentication (and then back to the one I want).

Looks like you have some logic tied to clicking a list item that needs to be run when changing the text in the combo.

The Synch script should include brackets around the database name in the USE statement. For example, if my destination database has a period in it, the statement will be invalid.

For example,
USE MyDatabase_v2.0
GO

is not right, but:
USE [MyDatabase_v2.0]
GO

A simple bookmark management dialog would be great.
This would reduce my typing work at the beginning of comapring of two databases each time.

perhaps i can helping by the little feature?

Are you planning to use source code control system of codeplex?

I don't know if the CodePlex project name can be changed or not. I did a search of "opendbdiff" (open db diff) but found nothing.

I then realized the project name is actually "opendbiff" (open db iff, missing a "d").

Hello,
do you intend to implement a comparison between a database and a database project (.dbproj), which is generated using Visual Studio DBPro?

This is implemented in the SchemaCompare tool in that same package by Microsoft, but the feature i am looking for is the ability to generate a diff script, while the MS tools always generates a Create script..

The DB project creates a .dbmeta file. I don't know if this is helpful in this regard..

this is the new Microsoft environment for interacting with databases, but as you see it has its issues, if your program can accept input from dbproj that will be really helpful
