I encounter a error in the start itself... It asks for dll's.

Error 1 The CodeDom provider type "Microsoft.VisualC.CppCodeProvider, CppCodeProvider, Version=8.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b03f5f7f11d50a3a" could not be located.

The above mentioned is the error I encounter.can I get a solution for this please

Hi.

I have one more issue related to UI.

I have downloaded fresh code.

And When I have open it and try to open a form PrincipalForm on Design Mode.

It is giving me this error. So pls. let us know, how can I resolve this issue.

Thanks for the reply.

Well I have executed the query EXEC xp_msver @optname='ProductVersion'

It is showing the version as shown below.

2 ProductVersion 524288 8.00.194

so what can be the issue pls. let me know. and how can i solve it.

One more thing for your information is :

In Master Database where i am connecting , In System Tables I found the table called dbo.sysdatabases where as in code file it's trying to connecting sys.databases

So What should i do now ? to make it workable...

2 options:

1) It's not a SQL Server 2005/2008. Check execution this command en SQL Analyzer: EXEC xp_msver @optname='ProductVersion'

2) The user that you put doesn't have permission to see sys.database

I am getting error once i click on Database DropDownList

Once I fill up the relavant information and Authentication When I click on Datbase it gives me error ["invalid object name 'sys.databases'"]

I am using SQL Server 2005.

Pls. Help me out in this issue..

I don't know if the CodePlex project name can be changed or not. I did a search of "opendbdiff" (open db diff) but found nothing.

I then realized the project name is actually "opendbiff" (open db iff, missing a "d").

Compare failed when the database name has a space ("Database Test").

I just wanted to mention that I have integrated your Schema Comparison engine into DBSourceTools. ( http://dbsourcetools.codeplex.com/ ).

As part of this process, I found what I believe is a bug in the following file:

Could you build in support for WinDif and other diff tools.

I'm thinking you could put both the old and new files out as temp files and then call the diff utility as "WinDiff.exe oldfile.sql newfile.sql" and we'd be able to see the differences, rather than just seeing two separate scripts and having to eyeball them.

I've set the option for case insensitive comparison, but I am getting a number of stored procedures showing as different.

For example one database has "CREATE PROCEDURE SomeProc" and the other has "Create PROCEDURE SomeProc" and they show as different.

Is this expected behaviour?

I was able to get Beta 7 to run if I downloaded the ScintillaNET library and put ScintillaNet.dll and SciLexer.dll (not sure if both are needed) into the same directory as DBDiff.exe.

Try download the Scintilla.NET library and put ScintillaNet.dll and SciLexer.dll in the same directory as DBDiff.exe. I was able to run the application after this.

Hello,

I have just downloaded the newest version and did some testing (SQL Server 2008).
I have found problem with "Scalar -valued function". DBDiff finds this new function in source db (and make it green) but do not generate any code for creating it in destination db.

Anyone has the same problem?

Hi,

I have just downloaded the latest binary and it works great. Thank you very much for such a nice tool.

But it seems like the tool is not able to identify Primary key, Foreign Key, Unique constraints in the destination database. I can see that those keys are defined in the destination database, but still the compare method doesn't recognize them.

Any idea why? The destination server is SQL 2005.

Hi,

I donwloaded the code to have a look. It doesn't build, almost certainly because of the broken references to Ascend, Ascend.Resources, and Ascend.Windows.Forms in projects DBDiff and DBDiff.Schema.SQLServer.

If there are license restrictions on distributing at least the binaries for these assemblies you should perhaps consider not making OpenDBDiff dependent on them. And if there are not, it might be a good idea to include them in the solution so people can just unpack the archive and everything works out of the box.

Until such improvement tho... can anyone tell me where I can get the necessary libraries from?
